Buy Flashlights Instead of Batteries
As mentioned before, in the long run, it is less expensive to use rechargeable batteries.
However, in rare cases, rechargeable batteries are not recommended.
Often times, flashlights come with batteries, yet cost less than the batteries alone.
Insert rechargeable batteries in the flashlight, and keep the regular batteries for things that work best with non-rechargeable batteries.
Rechargeable Batteries
Use rechargeable batteries, whenever possible.
They cost more initially, but they will save you money in the long run.
Plus, they are better for the environment, since they will not end up in landfills (like regular batteries, once they are dead).
Energy-Efficient Light Bulbs
Replace all your light bulbs with energy-efficient light bulbs.
They cost more initially, but they will save you money in the long run.
Lower Thermostat Temperature at Night
During the cold season, turn down the heater’s thermostat.
Buy extra blankets to keep warm. This “investment” will definitely pay off in the long term.
